Blockchain-Enabled Supply Chain Traceability in the Textile and Apparel Supply Chain: A Case Study of the Fiber Producer, Lenzing

Supply chain traceability is a dominant concern for many industries, regulators, and policymakers. In the textile apparel social, environmental, sustainability issues are frequent causes concern, highlighting need effective solutions. Blockchain technology has characteristics that make it attractive supply applications. However, literature lacks discussion of empirical cases. We discuss current blockchain applications in industries analyze an exemplar prominent solution adopted by world-leading fiber producer, Lenzing group. this study, we identify two related objectives traceability-product authentication sustainability. The case study analysis stimulated rich about different levels achievable across chain, digital identification products, extension solutions whole network. Significant technical business challenges exist extending to upstream raw material dispersed garment manufacturing networks downstream. More broadly, highlights (1) clarify initiative, (2) scope appropriately, both horizontally vertically with respect granularity items traced.
